Reasons for keeping this article:

José Ortega Torres is a well-known poet in the literary circles of Andalusia. His biography sheds light on the local history of poetry in the city of Granada, Spain. The article is not a vanity text on an obscure private person. José Ortega has won several Spanish poetry prizes and is the founder of a well-known Spanish literary collection, Silene. Please consult me if you require further information.Tercio28 06:47, 22 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Please add that information to the article, with references. Thanks. --Tango 12:34, 22 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I have added some references. Online sources for the prizes are harder to find, but I will give it a try in the next few days.Tercio28 16:50, 22 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Added a few more references. Please let me know whether this suffices.Tercio28 21:51, 24 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
It's probably enough to save it from speedy deletion, I'm not sure if it would survive a deletion debate, though. The source for the founding of the Silene collection looks good, but I don't speak the language so I'm not sure what it actually says, nor how reliable it is (who is the author?). Can you find any articles about him in national newspapers? (Preferably in English, but it's not required.) --Tango 11:26, 25 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
The author of the text on Editorial Silene (José Lupiáñez) is the co-founder of the collection and another pretty known Andalusian poet. I will try to find more articles. Will it help if I add the ISBN number and publishing house for José Ortega's published books? I would think that if he has 12 demonstrably published books he deserves a place in the Wikipedia.Tercio28 05:16, 26 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Ok, so the source is the co-founder - an independent source would be better. What we need is something that says someone not directly involved in it found it important enough to write about. Adding ISBNs and publishers to the list of works would be good - it would also help if you could give translations of the titles. Just having published lots of books isn't really enough - someone has to buy the books. If any of them made it on best-seller lists, that would be worth mentioning. --Tango 12:12, 26 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Unfortunately I don´t live in Spain now (where I could physically check non-digitzed libraries for these references), and googling doesn´t return much more information for the time being. Here is what I will do: I will add ISBN and publishing house for the books when available, translate the titles and keep an eye on new online references to add them as they appear. Hi Tango. I have now added the translation of the works' titles and the corresponding ISBN numbers whenever possible. As for best-seller lists, I don't think the author is in them, but then that is the case with plenty of known poets; to be honest, I don't think that is a really good criteria to decide on the relevance of a literary work. I do understand the need for references and will keep adding them as I find them. If you have other suggestions, they will be welcome. Thanks for the advise.Tercio28 04:40, 4 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
